10 RightNow Media Teaching Series I Recommend for Youth Group

Like many churches, we offer a RightNow Media subscription to our people. We like using these video resources (many come with printable lesson guides or we make our own) for our 7th-12th grade student youth group. There are so many resources on RightNow Media it can be hard to know which ones to choose. Here are ten we used from 2022 to 2024.

Click on the title link will only bring to that series if you are logged in to your RightNow Media account.

1. Psalm 23 – AJ Crocker

Psalm 23 is a high-energy three-part series for youth filled with humour and personal stories. This series help you know, trust, and follow the Shepherd’s voice through peaceful waters and dark valleys. AJ Crocker walks us through this very famous psalm and helps us see it with fresh eyes. Real high school and college aged students share their perspective on the discussion questions in each episode. The crucial aspects of knowing, trusting, and following the Shepherd’s voice are focused on. Each episode includes a supplemental Bible story told quickly and humours through quick-cut editing to grab attention and help explain the different parts of Psalm 23.

2. Homecoming – AJ Crocker

In Luke 15 Jesus teaches us about the type of party that awaits those who choose to accept his invitation to come home. In this three-part series, AJ Crocker helps us understand what this home is like, who it is for and what the father truly cares about.

3. Jesus Changes Everything – Hall

Teenagers often feel trapped. They’re stuck in the same habits, depression sets in, and they wonder about their purpose. Life might seem pointless or hopeless at best. The lie that says nothing will ever change pulls teenagers deeper into the rut.

But Jesus offers a way out. He reaches down to give life—a new path to follow. He has the power to free us from habits, redeem our relationships, and give us a new identity. It all begins by deciding to follow Him, because a life surrendered to Jesus is a life transformed.

In this 4-part series, Nick Hall, Founder and Chief Communicator for PULSE, a ministry focused on reaching the next generation for Christ, talks to students about how a relationship with Jesus changes everything—our identity, relationships, habits, and mission. Students will be challenged to allow Jesus to transform every aspect of their lives.

4. Apologetics – Matt Chandler

Answering tough questions about God and Christianity

Why does God allow suffering and tragedy? Does science disprove Christianity? Is Jesus really the only way? Why are Christians so hypocritical? Christians throughout the ages have wrestled with questions like these, and chances are, so do you. Having faith isn’t always easy. You may not always have the “winning” answer that makes you popular. Sometimes believing the Bible might make you feel like everyone’s against you. But it’s critical that you don’t run from these types of questions.

In these four challenging sessions, students share real-life stories about their own struggles in coming to terms with what Scripture teaches about God, sin, creation and Jesus. Matt Chandler provides powerful teaching from Scripture and helps teens understand why believing in God and the Bible is not only reasonable, but also essential. And that’s what apologetics is all about. Knowing what you believe and why you believe it, and then being able to share with others why you think your beliefs are reasonable.

5. Doctrine – Francis Chan

Knowing the Truth and Acting On It

What are the essential beliefs of Christianity? And how should a healthy understanding of doctrinal issues—like The Trinity, the Church, sin and salvation—impact the way we live and act toward God and others?

We will all face times where our faith will be challenged either by other people or by difficult circumstances. That’s why it’s critical that we have a foundational knowledge of the core beliefs of Christianity and a willing heart to obey God.

In these seven dynamic sessions, students share real-life stories about their own struggles to live out the essentials of their faith on a daily basis. And Francis Chan provides powerful teaching from Scripture to help teens understand the core of our Christian faith.

6. Not a Fan – Teen Edition – Kyle Idleman

Jesus is not interested in mere fans. He doesn’t want enthusiastic admirers. He wants completely committed followers. This package includes powerful tools to guide teenagers in your church on a journey from FAN to FOLLOWER. Not A Fan Small Group Study for Teens Includes:

  • -Four teaching episodes presented by Kyle Idleman
  • -Three testimony episodes shared by young adults who journeyed from “fan” to “follower”

This study can be used for weekend programming, summer camps, retreats, or other youth group activities.

7. Redeem the Screen (Youth Edition) Kyle Idleman

Our screens have incredible power in our lives. With the click of a button, we can connect to anyone across the globe in an instant. With a simple search, we can discover everything from today’s weather forecast, to tutoring for a difficult math problem, to the ins and outs of our favorite celebrity’s love life. Our screens can inspire us, but they can also distract us and make us mindlessly conform to what we see.

Our phones, laptops, and TVs are some of the most powerful objects in our lives. Will you let them change your life or will you use them to change the world?

In this three-part youth series, pastor Kyle Idleman will teach you how to redeem your screen. Join him as he walks through Romans 12, showing us how to be transformed by Jesus. When we let Jesus transform our lives, our screens will no longer be a distraction—they will become a tool to make Jesus known all over the world.

8. The Book of James – Francis Chan

True faith produces fruit. A faith without action and without life change is ultimately a dead faith. The book of James speaks to the realities of a living faith in Jesus—the kind of roll-up-your-sleeves and get-your-hands-dirty discipleship that is borne out of an authentic relationship with the risen Lord. James writes to believers who know suffering, who’ve faced trials, and who ultimately desire a deep relationship with God.

Francis Chan unpacks the dense truth contained in the book of James in front of the iconic backdrop of San Francisco, the city where he lives and ministers. Through 12 sessions, Francis works through James verse-by-verse, challenging followers of Christ to move beyond a private, intellectual knowledge of God and His Word, to a vibrant faith that impacts every square inch of life.

9. Eternity (Youth Series) – Francis Chan

The world tells teens that they should have it all, and have it now. Too often temporary passions are elevated over those things of lasting significance. But what happens when teens are given a clear vision of the future, one that rightly places God at the center, clearly defines heaven and hell, and rightly sees Christ—not them—sitting on an eternal throne? What if all of life was lived through the lens of eternity? Would students not see the greater beauty and joy of loving God and loving others, compared to the empty pursuit of personal pleasure?

Through four sessions Francis Chan unpacks what Scripture says about eternity, debunking misconceptions about heaven and hell. He will inspire students to lay aside what is fleeting and passionately pursue God and His mission in light of eternity.

10. Bold – Joby Martin (for Teen Guys)

Teen guys want to be courageous and brave. In an era of superhero movies, they strive to be characterized by fearlessness, confidence, and power, like Captain America or Iron Man. But boldness is empty bravado when not used in the way God intended.

In Bold, a 4-part video Bible study series, pastor Joby Martin uses Scripture to teach teen guys that their desires to be bold are not without a purpose. They were created to play a part in God’s redemptive work in the world and live courageously for the cause of God’s Kingdom. God has empowered guys to live a life of boldness—in their faith, with their words, to share the truth, and through prayer. Because our God is so powerful, young men who follow Christ can—and must—live boldly in the world.
