Imagine waking up tomorrow to breaking news—Jesus has returned. Would you have lived today any differently? Would your priorities have changed? Too often, we live as if we have all the time in the world, but Scripture reminds us that Christ’s return is imminent.
“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.” — Luke 12:35-36 (NIV)
Life feels like an endless stream of ordinary days—work, errands, responsibilities—but one day, everything will change. Jesus will return. Are you ready? Pastor Chris emphasized, “It’s going to happen one day… on a very ordinary day.”
For some, the thought of Jesus’ return brings joy and anticipation; for others, it raises uncertainty and fear. Why? Because how we live today determines our readiness. If we are caught up in selfish pursuits, distractions, and sin, we may be unprepared when He arrives.
Pastor Chris challenged us: “If you knew Jesus was coming back in three years, would you live differently?” The truth is, we don’t know the day or hour (Matthew 24:36). That’s why Jesus calls us to live expectantly—not in fear, but in joyful readiness.
Real readiness isn’t about just knowing Jesus will return; it’s about living like it. When Robbie Robbins, an Air Force pilot, returned home unexpectedly after 300 missions, his wife and kids were already prepared. They didn’t know the exact day, but they lived every day ready to welcome him home.
How do we do the same? We stay close to Jesus, keep our faith active, and align our lives with eternal priorities.
