Psalm 71 has been one of my favorite passages over the years in ministry because it keeps bringing me back to what really matters. I am called to keep telling what God has done. As long as He gives me breath, I do not want to miss opportunities to make Him known.
Psalm 71:15 says, “My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long—though I know not how to relate them all.” That is not just about a moment, it is about a way of life. It is being willing to talk about God and what He has done again and again, even when the words do not come easily.
A lot of that still happens one-on-one in everyday life. Sitting down with someone, opening the Bible, encouraging them, and helping them take a next step are some of the best moments in ministry. Those personal conversations are where truth becomes clear and faith begins to grow.
But Psalm 71 does not stop there, because “all day long” points to something bigger. It describes a life that is always looking for ways to make God known in every setting. Then verse 18 adds another layer by pointing us to the next generation, not just the people right in front of us.
Verse 18 says, “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.” That reminds me this calling is not just about today, it is about what comes after us. There is a responsibility to keep passing on what God has done so others can know Him too.
That is where I have been using whatever tools are in front of me. For me, that has meant sharing messages through the well.faith sermon audio podcast, posting video clips on YouTube@christeien, sharing God’s Word each week on YouTube@rockwellchurch218 channel, and using social media and the website to keep pointing people back to Scripture. It is just another way to keep doing what Psalm 71 is calling us to do.
It is all the same goal no matter the setting or the method. I want to keep telling people who God is and what He has done, whether that is in a conversation or through a screen. It has been encouraging to see how God uses that to reach people I would never sit down with in person.
Psalm 71:24a says, “My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long.” That can go a lot further today than it used to because of the opportunities we have. I have been putting more effort into living that out and not missing the opportunities God puts in front of me.
How have you found ways to live out Psalm 71 in your own life?
