How to Make Full-Color Posters for Ministry Events (Updated 2025)
I often get asked, “How did you do that?” from people at church and pastor friends when they see the posters we make for events and sermon series. So I thought I would share how I do it step by step for anyone who wants good-looking, low-cost ministry posters.
For years, I designed posters in PowerPoint and had them printed at Sam’s Club. That still works today, although the process is now completely online and the posters are shipped to you instead of being picked up in the store. If your church or ministry is on a tight budget, this is a simple way to make full-color posters that look great and cost less than you might expect.
Step 1: Design Your Poster in PowerPoint
Go into PowerPoint and set the page size to the exact size you want printed, such as 20×30 inches or 16×20 inches.
Use large, clear fonts and high-contrast colors so your message is easy to read from a distance.
When you are happy with the design, save it as a high-resolution PNG or PDF file.
Typical large poster prices as of 2025 are about:
16×20 for around $9
20×24 for around $10
20×30 for around $11
24×36 for around $19
Prices can vary depending on paper type, finish, and location.
Step 2: Upload and Order
Go to the Sam’s Club Photo section of their website and sign in with your membership.
Upload your saved poster file and select the print size that matches your design.
If you made your slide the right size, you should not need to crop or adjust anything.
Add it to your cart and finish your order. Posters are printed through their partner lab and shipped directly to your address.
Delivery time is usually about a week. Plus members often receive free shipping when their order total is over fifty dollars.
Step 3: When Your Posters Arrive
Once your order arrives, open the package carefully and lay the posters flat to relax any curl from shipping. Check the layout, color, and contrast against your original file to be sure everything printed as expected.
They’re printed on sturdy paper that holds up well in church hallways, classrooms, or community displays.
We’ve used this approach for sermon series artwork, outreach announcements, and window posters. It’s an easy and affordable way to share messages of hope and invite people into what God is doing.
A Great Local Option
If you need something printed the same day or prefer local pickup, Walgreens Photo is another great option. They often run coupon deals that make their prices very competitive, and you can usually pick up your posters the same day. The quality is more than good enough for ministry displays and indoor use.
If this is helpful, let me know. I will keep posting more “how to do that” guides for ministry projects that save money and make a difference.
