What is the Bold Secret to an Exciting Faith?

What if your faith could feel more exciting, more alive, more purposeful? Have you ever looked around and thought, “I know a lot about the Bible… I’ve been a Christian for years… but something feels like it’s missing”? You’re not alone. Many believers go through seasons where their faith feels stagnant or routine.

But there’s a bold secret that can break through that spiritual flatness—and it’s not complicated.

Here it is: Prioritize your ministry.

Seriously. Step into the ministry God created you to live out. That’s when your faith starts to come alive. That’s when things get exciting—when you start to see God work through you to impact the lives of others.

And no, I’m not saying you need to go to Bible college or have all the answers. You don’t need a stage, a microphone, or a fancy title. All you really need is a willingness to serve and a heart that says, “Here I am, Lord—use me.”

You Already Have a Ministry

If you’re in Christ, you already have a ministry. Whether you realize it or not, God has placed people in your life—right now—who need encouragement, truth, and hope. That includes your coworkers, your neighbors, your family, your classmates, or even the people you chat with online.

Ministry isn’t limited to church programs. In fact, some of the most meaningful ministry happens in everyday places—your garage, your lunch break, your driveway, the grocery store, even while you’re fishing or helping someone move.

You don’t have to wait until your life is perfect or your schedule clears. If you’re always waiting for a better situation, you’ll never move forward. God wants you to bloom where you’re planted. The job you have, the town you live in, the stage of life you’re in—it’s no accident. He’s placed you there for a reason.

The Apostle Paul Knew This Well

Paul didn’t let circumstances stop him. When he wrote his letter to the Colossians, he was in prison. Not exactly the most ideal ministry setting. And yet, Paul faithfully served from behind bars. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, he penned some of the most powerful, life-changing letters in all of Scripture—letters that still shape our faith today.

In Colossians 1:24–29 (NLT), Paul writes:

“I am glad when I suffer for you in my body, for I am participating in the sufferings of Christ… God has given me the responsibility of serving his church by proclaiming his entire message to you… And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.”

What a powerful reminder. Christ lives in us. And because of that, we have the power and responsibility to serve others and proclaim the truth.

Serving Even When It’s Hard

Let’s be real—serving isn’t always easy. Sometimes you’re tired, misunderstood, stretched thin, or just plain worn out. I know what it’s like to show up with a sore back and a full schedule, wondering if what you’re doing even matters.

But I’ve also learned that God sees the effort. He honors your obedience. He uses your faithfulness—especially when it costs you something.

Just like Paul, we’re called to keep serving, even in seasons of difficulty. The suffering, the spiritual battles, the misunderstandings—they’re all part of it. But when you push through and keep serving, you glorify God in powerful ways.

You don’t need a perfect situation to serve. You just need to show up and say yes to what God is asking of you in that moment.

Every Day Is an Opportunity

I’ve had moments where I missed it. Like the time I dropped off some shelves I sold and got into a great conversation with an older couple. They were so friendly, and we talked about their dogs—one was a Border Collie, the other a Jack Russell Terrier. They had stories, and I listened.

But as I was driving away, I realized I had missed an opportunity to point them to Jesus. I had used the church trailer, so they probably knew I was a pastor. But I never mentioned the gospel. I talked about dogs, but not about the Lord.

I walked away convicted. We need to look for those little openings—those conversations, those moments—where we can plant seeds of faith. The goal isn’t to be pushy. It’s just to be present, to be real, and to be willing.

Like a farmer planting seed before a storm rolls in, we need to sow the truth of God’s Word while we can—because the world desperately needs it.

Even When You Don’t See Results

Sometimes we serve and serve and don’t see immediate fruit. That can be discouraging. But remember the story of Adoniram Judson. He served in Burma (modern-day Myanmar) for decades, suffering immensely. When he died, there were only about 12 to 25 known believers in the entire country. He probably felt like he had failed.

But now? Over 600,000 Burmese believers trace their spiritual lineage back to Judson. He never saw the fruit in his lifetime—but the impact was eternal.

Your ministry matters, even if you don’t see results right away. God is always working behind the scenes.

Bold Faith to Share

Paul says, “This is the secret: Christ lives in you.” If Christ lives in us, that should change everything. It should shape how we talk, how we relate to others, and how we respond to the challenges of life.

When you really believe that Christ lives in you, you’ll start sharing Him with others. Not because you have to, but because you want to. It just becomes part of who you are.

Whether you’re recommending a Bible, sharing a verse, or inviting someone to church, your words and actions can help others discover the love of Jesus.

Bold Faith to Help People Grow

Finally, Paul says his goal is to “present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ.” That means discipleship. That means helping others grow.

What if you made it your mission to help someone else grow spiritually? You don’t have to know everything—you just need to be one step ahead and willing to walk alongside someone else.

You could meet once a week, read through a devotional, talk about how to follow Jesus more closely. Maybe you go through key topics like assurance of salvation, prayer, resisting temptation, or discovering God’s will.

Helping others grow in Christ will grow your faith too.

So… What’s Your Ministry?

You are God’s masterpiece, created for good works (Ephesians 2:10). He has a purpose for your life. And you’ll experience the most exciting, faith-stretching moments when you step into that purpose.

So ask Him:
“Lord, what’s my ministry in this season?”
“Who can I encourage, pray for, or walk alongside?”
“How can I make a difference right where I am?”

You don’t need a platform. You just need bold faith and a willing heart.

Let’s be people who live with bold faith—faith that serves, shares, and strengthens others. And let’s trust that even when we don’t see the results right away, God is using our obedience for something far greater than we could ever imagine. Keep stepping forward in faith.
