When was the last time you felt truly loved? Not just appreciated, but deeply loved—without conditions, without performance, just as you are?
In John 15:12 (NIV), Jesus commands, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”
That’s a high standard. Jesus’ love isn’t just a feeling—it’s an action. It’s sacrificial. It’s selfless. It’s the kind of love that doesn’t just wait for others to deserve it—it takes the first step.
Pastor Chris put it this way: “The love we are supposed to show isn’t something we come up with on our own. It’s not just about being a good person. The love that makes a real difference is the love that flows from Jesus into us and then out to others.”
Too often, our love is limited by our emotions. We love when it’s convenient. We love when we feel like it. But real love, Jesus’ kind of love, is shown in action, even when it’s hard.
Think about Jesus on the cross. He didn’t wait for us to get it all together before He loved us. He loved us first. He gave everything for us, knowing full well that we would struggle to love Him in return.
If we want to love like Jesus, we have to let Him love through us.
Practical Application:
- Ask God to help you love someone difficult in your life today.
- Look for one way to serve someone without expecting anything in return.
- Reflect on the times when Jesus has loved you even when you didn’t deserve it.
- Choose one area where you can be more patient, kind, or forgiving.
- Remind yourself that love isn’t a feeling—it’s a decision to act.
Prayer Prompts:
- Jesus, teach me to love the way You do.
- Help me to put love into action, even when it’s difficult.
- Fill me with Your love so I can pour it out to others.
- Show me someone today who needs to experience Your love through me.
