Live Well: Worship, Evangelize, Learn, and Love. A Call to Live Fully for Jesus
Have you ever found yourself wondering, “Am I doing enough with my life?” Maybe it hits you during a walk, on your way into work, or in a quiet moment during a difficult season. You ask yourself, “Will I look back and be satisfied with how I lived for Jesus?” You’re not alone in that question. Christians everywhere regularly pray, “God, what do You really want me to do?”
Often the answer isn’t something new. Sometimes God calls us back to what He has already shown us. He invites us to live well.
Living well can be described in four simple words that carry incredible power. Worship. Evangelize. Learn. Love. These aren’t marketing words. They describe a biblical lifestyle that shapes your soul, glorifies God, and fills your days with purpose and joy.
1. Worship God with Your Whole Life
Worship isn’t limited to the songs we sing on Sunday. Worship is what happens when you present your whole life to God. It’s responding to His greatness with reverence, gratitude, obedience, and awe.
Warren Wiersbe defined worship this way: “Worship is the believer’s response of all that they are mind, emotions, will, and body, to what God is and says and does.” It is personal and practical. It is emotional and obedient.
Hebrews 12:28 says, “Since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.” You worship God through the words you speak, the attitudes you carry, and the way you treat people. Every choice becomes an offering that says, “Lord, You matter most to me.”
2. Evangelize with Boldness and Compassion
Evangelizing simply means sharing the best news in the world. You don’t need a degree. You just need a heart that has been changed by Jesus.
When Jesus said, “Go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19), He was speaking to ordinary people like us. Sharing your faith can feel intimidating at first, but once you step out give someone a Bible, tell your story, or invite a friend to church you realize how God uses every step of obedience.
You may face rejection or discomfort, but remember this. You are planting seeds. God will use them.
3. Learn and Grow Continually
Living well means you never stop growing. Romans 12:2 calls us to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Renewal happens when Scripture shapes your thinking, when truth replaces lies, and when godly wisdom guides your choices.
How are you renewing your mind? Are you reading Scripture? Listening to solid teaching? Sharing what you learn with others? When God teaches you something, pass it on. You never know how He might use your words to strengthen someone else.
4. Love Others with Truth and Grace
Love is the defining mark of a believer. Jesus came “full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Real love holds both.
Sometimes love means speaking up. Sometimes it means listening, forgiving, serving, or showing kindness when it’s inconvenient. Love looks different in every situation, but its heartbeat is always the same: showing people the heart of Jesus.
Keep Asking: How Can I Live Well Right Now?
One simple question can reshape your day: “What can I do right now to live well for God?”
Ask yourself
How can I worship God in this moment?
Who can I point toward Christ today?
What can I learn or share that glorifies God?
How can I show Christ’s love right here?
These questions bring purpose to ordinary life. Living well isn’t about adding more to your schedule. It’s about bringing meaning into what you already do.
Trust God in the Process
Life isn’t always easy. You will face trouble, fear, and heartbreak. Yet God meets you in every moment. Psalm 34 reminds us, “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:17–18).
Through every step of worship, every conversation, every lesson learned, every loving act, God is shaping you. Jesus has already secured your victory through His death and resurrection. Your future is safe in Him.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him” (Psalm 34:8).
“No one will be condemned who takes refuge in him” (Psalm 34:22).
Final Encouragement
You don’t have to do everything. But you can do something. Live well right where you are. Worship. Evangelize. Learn. Love. You don’t need a platform or a title. You just need a heart that says, “Lord, here I am.”
Take one step today. Say one prayer. Share one truth. Show one act of love. Tomorrow, do it again.
When you live well for Jesus, you help change the world one moment at a time.
Here is a sermon outline I shared Sept 9, 2012 that shows this has been a theme I have shared in my ministry for many years:

A. God is Watching for Upward Worship
John 4:23–24 (NLT)
“But the time is coming, indeed it’s here now, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
B. God Expects Honorable Upward Worship
Hebrews 12:28 (NLT)
“Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.”
“Worship is the believers’ response of all that they are mind, emotions, will, and body to what God is and says and does. This response has its mystical side in subjective experience and its practical side in objective obedience to God’s revealed will. Worship is a loving response that’s balanced by the fear of the Lord, and it is a deepening response as the believer comes to know God better.” – Warren Wiersbe, Real Worship
C. God Wants Your Sacrifice as Upward Worship
Romans 12:1–2 (NLT)
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice, the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
David’s Example of Worshipping Upward
Based on 1 Samuel 21:10–15
1. Praise Him
Psalm 34:1–3 (NLT)
“I will praise the Lord at all times.
I will constantly speak his praises.
I will boast only in the Lord;
let all who are helpless take heart.
Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness;
let us exalt his name together.”
2. Seek Him
Psalm 34:4–6 (NLT)
“I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears.
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;
he saved me from all my troubles.”
3. Trust Him
Psalm 34:7–8 (NLT)
“For the angel of the Lord is a guard;
he surrounds and defends all who fear him.
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!”
4. Respect Him
Psalm 34:9–11 (NLT)
“Fear the Lord, you his godly people,
for those who fear him will have all they need.
Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,
but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.
Come, my children, and listen to me,
and I will teach you to fear the Lord.”
5. Do Right in front of Him
Psalm 34:12–16 (NLT)
“Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous?
Then keep your tongue from speaking evil
and your lips from telling lies!
Turn away from evil and do good.
Search for peace, and work to maintain it.
The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right;
his ears are open to their cries for help.
But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil;
he will erase their memory from the earth.”
6. Run to Him
Psalm 34:17–18 (NLT)
“The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.
He rescues them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
7. Endure with Him
Psalm 34:19–20 (NLT)
“The righteous person faces many troubles,
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
For the Lord protects the bones of the righteous;
not one of them is broken!”
8. Find Refuge in Him
Psalm 34:21–22 (NLT)
“Calamity will surely destroy the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be punished.
But the Lord will redeem those who serve him.
No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.”
