When Jesus Returns Will He Find You Faithful? (Devotional)

1–2 minutes

If Jesus came back right now, would He find you faithful? The Bible says He will return like a thief in the night (1 Thessalonians 5:2). The question isn’t if He will return, but how He will find us when He does.

“For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.” — 1 Corinthians 11:26 (NIV)

Devotional Thought:

We partake in communion not just to remember Jesus’ sacrifice but also as a reminder that He is coming back. Pastor Chris emphasized, “We do this until He returns.” Every time we break the bread and drink the cup, we are proclaiming: Jesus is alive, and He is coming again!

But are we living like we believe it? Many Christians get so comfortable in this world that they forget we are citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20). If our lives don’t reflect Christ, we may be caught off guard when He returns.

Pastor Chris challenged us: “If you’re the only Bible some people will ever read, what are they learning about Jesus from your life?” The time is short, and God calls us to be faithful witnesses of His grace.

How do we stay faithful while we wait? By living out the gospel daily.

Application – How to Remain Faithful Until Jesus Returns:

  • Stay spiritually awake – Keep growing in your faith.
  • Use your gifts for God’s Kingdom – Serve others wholeheartedly.
  • Share the gospel boldly – Don’t keep Jesus to yourself.
  • Live with integrity – Walk in holiness, even when no one is watching.
  • Encourage others to persevere – Strengthen your church community.

Prayer Prompts:

  • Pray for strength and endurance in your faith.
  • Ask God to show you where you need to be more faithful.
  • Intercede for those who are drifting away from Christ.
  • Thank Jesus for His promise to return and restore all things.
