My church people sent me on an all expense covered – paid trip to serve in Chile for three weeks. Most days we started with breakfast at 7am and then an hour of devotions and prayer time. Then we worked until lunch at 1pm and then worked until dinner time at 7pm. There were often activities in the evening and usually the only day we weren’t really busy was Sunday. Vision for Chile has built over 13 buildings over the last decade in Chile and this was a work trip. Some people were unable to come on this trip so we had four workers including me. We did a lot of work but it was a lot of fun. There was also time to see some of the sites and go out to dinner. The best part was seeing the rooms get used for ministry as soon as we finished them.

Here are a some pictures of my time working at the House of Hope in Santiago, Chile. There are more pictures on their Facebook page
I led devotions each day using the Bible and Francis Chan’s book Crazy Love since I was able to get an English and Spanish copy of it before I left Minnesota. I learned to use an interpreter since I don’t speak Spanish and many of the people there did not speak English. We took turns making breakfast. Our building goals were to put siding on the new 12,000 square foot building and sheetrock/finish the micro business/music training/classrooms. Saturdays were volunteer days so the four of us led teams of volunteers to work on the building.
Final Update Team VFC
Official House of Hope Final Update:
The trip is over the team has left Chile and are now home however the last few days of the trip were awesome.
On the Saturday before we left, the House of Hope had it’s first “ Kids Zone “day. And wow was it crazy. Kids Zone is like a wild and crazy Sunday school class for unchurched street kids. Being our first class we had no idea of how many kids would show up. We estimated about 10 to 12… However, they came, some more came and then more came. We ended up with 33 kids, some moms and dads and a stray dog. It was great to see and feel the energy and see the Holy Spirit move. Thank you Lord. Please pray as we continue our Kids Zone every Saturday throughout the year.
Along with Kids Zone, the House of Hope will begin teaching classes for guitar, drums and English as a second language. Our goal is to reach La Pintana for Jesus !
We want to thank our team, Bob, Debbie, Lee, Kerry and Chris. It was a great 17 days. A lot of construction work was completed and ministry was accomplished. Again, thank you Jesus.
We want to compliment and thank the young women and staff of the House of Hope. What a great group of people. Thank you for an awesome time of fellowship and working together to the glory of God. See you in October !
